Art classes
We welcome all ages in our academy. There are classes for primary and secondary school children, and adults. Classes are kept small so everybody can have equal opportunity and attention from the tutor.
There are classes where you can brush your skills or learn new ones. We offer Watercoulour, Acrylic, Oil, Mixed media, Drawing and Live Painting classes. Or you can try our Art Class for Fun where you can explore different medias.
Soon there will be a Sculpture class and Animation Class. Another new media will be logo design and print design for business.
Creative practice allows us to find those moments of discovery, improvisation and reflection. When creating visual images we inspire the challenges of learning and adapt our skills to create something new. Students are encouraged to research themes or subjects to develop ideas, look, discover a process, practice a skill and be critical and reflective and are enabled to experience moments of inspiration, empowering us to consider and apply our new or developing skills to make art work. Students will gain an understanding of the process of art making. The connection between line, color, texture, shape, composition etc. will be explored as students create images which express emotion or feeling, engage with a range of subjects, medium and techniques. This course has been designed to ensure that whatever experience or ability, there is a starting point and a clear pathway to engage with creative practice. These creative approaches will give a range of strategies for researching and developing visual inquiries to help build an engaging body of work.
Art Adult class every Tuesday at 6pm - 7.30pm at Spectrum Centre.
Wednesday day class. Also Art for children and young adults.
The new classes start on Tuesday 15th May at 6pm and on Wednesday 16th May.
The Art Classes will be with Jonathan Shearer. Jonathan's work skilfully combines perception, emotion and expression with sensitive concern for painterly qualities. His paintings are deeply expressive and charged with strong spiritual quality. His way of teaching inspires and encourages the creativity which is within all of us.
